The R package mvmeta
The package mixmeta consists of a collection of functions to perform various meta-analytical models in R through a unified mixed-effects framework, including standard univariate fixed and random-effects meta-analysis and meta-regression, and non-standard extensions such as multivariate, multilevel, longitudinal, and dose-response models.
This R package supersedes the older package mvmeta, providing a more general modelling framework and more developed routines.
The package will be soon available in the Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN), and it will be downloadable directly through R. It contains a regression function to fit the models, then to summarize the results, extract predictions, residuals, and statistics, perform statistical tests and simulate data. It also includes a series of auxiliary functions and data used in examples. The documentation includes help pages for the package and each function.
An article, currently in submission in Statistics in Medicine, illustrates various applications of this unified modelling framework to fit all the types of meta-analytical models described above. This will be considered the main reference for citation purposes.
